Born and raised in Southern California where the sun always shines, I saw pretty people everywhere. But I wasn't one of them. I like food, no...I love food. And as a kid, I loved food a little too much and I soon found myself weighing far more than a middle-schooler should be weighing. I'd say that was probably the worst part of it all; some people are "Large & In Charge," with no regard for what their size might be. But I knew I was a fat kid and it did nothing for the already sensitive self-esteem of a young girl.
But enough of the sob story. Perhaps it was also my saving grace that I knew I needed to change, because that's what got me to start eating more health-consciously and getting active in sports.
After my first 2 years in high school, I'd dropped 20lbs. After a short stint recovering from knee surgery, I managed to slowly but surely continue to drop the very unnecessary pounds primarily through diet. From the start of high school to my senior graduation, I'd lost about 40-50lbs. I wasn't nearly in as good of shape as I could/should have been in but it was a start.
College came and I gained free access to the university gym. That place became my unlikely salvation and motivator, as it got me through a lot of tough challenges. Furthermore, it inspired me to work harder, lift more, run faster, and push myself until I once more glimpsed that spark of physical transformation.
I never looked back.
So here we are now. I want to share my experiences, the ups and the downs, the setbacks and the accomplishments. Because I'm on track to be the best Amazon that I can be.
